Since 2017, I have had the honor of serving as the founding and lead pastor of Garden City Covenant Church on the northwest side of Chicago, a very loving, vibrant, and diverse church serving young professionals and immigrant families from around the city. I've been a lead or senior pastor for fourteen years and have been preaching almost weekly for twenty-two years.
Just one among ten pastors in the family, I come from a long line of servant-leaders now spread around the world, descendants of Rev. Juan Catanus, Sr., the former Senior Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines. As a P.K. (pastor's kid), pastors and their families hold a special place in my heart. Through my work, I hope to give voice and visibility to my forebears and honor those who have sacrificed to meet others' needs without attention or platform.
