Since 2017, I have had the honor of serving as the founding and lead pastor of Garden City Covenant Church on the northwest side of Chicago, a very loving, vibrant, and diverse church serving young professionals and immigrant families from around the city. I've been a lead pastor for sixteen years and have been preaching at gatherings of all kinds for more than twenty-four years.
Just one among twelve pastors in the family, I come from a long line of servant-leaders now spread around the world, descendants of Rev. Juan Catanus, Sr., the former Senior Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines. As a P.K. (pastor's kid), pastors and their families hold a special place in my heart. Through my work, I hope to give voice and visibility to my forebears and honor those who continually sacrifice to meet others' needs without attention or platform.
I have served in a wide range of denominational roles, most recently as the Vice Chair (2021-2025) for the Central Conference Ministerial Association of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). In the summer of 2026, I'll have the honor of being ordained to Word and Sacrament by the ECC. HERE is a video of me preaching at New Community Covenant Church in Logan Square (in Chicago).
