Pastor // One among many pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders from the line of the late Rev. Juan Catanus, Sr. (a.k.a. "Lolo Uwa"), evangelist in Iloilo City and long time Senior Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church (Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines). P.K. (pastor's kid) in the diaspora, formed by Filipino communities in Vancouver, Toronto, and the Chicago suburbs. Experienced in college/youth ministry, church planting, denominational service, and more than a decade as senior/lead pastor to people of diverse backgrounds. Now serving with Garden City Church on the Northwest side of Chicago.
Teacher // Christian theologian and ethicist currently teaching undergraduates at Loyola University in Chicago. Ph.D. Candidate in the Integrative Studies in Ethics and Theology (ISET) at Loyola, researching and writing about Filipino American contextual theology, social ethics, pastoral/political theologies, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Graduate of DePaul University (B.A.) and the divinity school of Trinity International University (M.Div, cum laude) with short stints at McCormick Theological Seminary and an unnamed Chicago law school. Conference speaker, guest lecturer, and academic presenter whose work is being used at Fuller Theological Seminary, the University of California at Irvine, and Yale Divinity School. Former blogger, published in The Other Journal, Emerging US, and Inheritance Magazine.
Community Leader // Nonprofit board member and advocate for Filipino/Asian American concerns. Servant of the Church at-large, supporter of immigrant church pastors and congregations in transition, friend to P.K.'s and ministry families, and mobilizer of next generation ministry leaders. Founder of Filipino American Ministry Summit and Blessed to Give, committed to partnerships with World Relief, International Justice Mission, and World Vision.
