Gabriel J. Catanus, PhD
Community Leader
I am a supporter of small churches and congregations in transition, a supporter of ministry families, and a mobilizer of next generation ministry leaders. I'm also the founder of the Filipino American Ministry Summit and Blessed to Give, helping thus far to raise more than $30,000 for others in need. In recent years, I have served as a nonprofit board member and advocate for a range of communities and causes. My heart is for healthy, long-term, local partnerships that serve the common good.
----------
In 2020, I joined several others to launch the Asian American Christian Collaborative, and I remain focused with other local leaders on church-based responses to Chicago's challenges.
----------
In March 2021, Pastor Juliet Liu, Pastor Tiana Coleman, and I gathered about 800 members and leaders from several Chicago churches to prayerfully demonstrate against anti-Asian racism, misogyny (pictured left/above on mobile). You can read more about the demonstration HERE.
----------
In April 2021, as part of a broader, long-term effort, I joined with several other Chicago pastors and clergy for a conversation about Black and Asian American solidarity (pictured furthest below). You can read about the panel HERE and watch it HERE.
